Support

How can we help?

Quick answers first. If you’re still stuck, a person on the TapWizz team reads every email.

Getting started

How do I get TapWizz?

TapWizz is an iPhone app in private beta. Join the waitlist on tapwizz.com. When your invite is ready, we email you a TestFlight link. Install Apple’s TestFlight app, open the link on your iPhone and tap Install.

Why do I see “Pending access” after signing in?

TapWizz checks whether the email you signed in with has an invite. If it does, the app opens. If not, you see the waiting screen. The most common cause is signing in with a different email than the one we invited: tap “Signed in with the wrong email? Sign out” and sign in again with your invite email.

How do I sign in?

Tap Continue with Google, or use your email. Depending on your app version, email sign-in uses a password or a 6-digit code we email you. There is no separate TapWizz password to remember if you use Google.

Which devices and countries are supported?

TapWizz is an iPhone app. It is offered only in the United States and supports US-issued cards.

Adding cards

How do I add a card?

Open Wallet and tap add. Search for your card by name or issuer and tap it. TapWizz never asks for your card number, CVV or PIN: it only needs to know which card you carry.

Can I scan my card instead of searching?

If you see Scan card, take one photo of the front of your card. The photo is read on your iPhone to recognise which card it is; long number runs, the expiry date and your name are dropped on the phone and the image is deleted. You then confirm the match. If the match is wrong, search instead.

Why doesn’t my card image look like my real card?

TapWizz is adding the issuers’ own card-front images for popular cards. Cards without one show a styled card with the issuer and name. The rewards are the same either way.

My card is missing from search.

Tell us which card it is. If you see Report a problem on a card, use it; otherwise email us. We add missing cards to the catalog.

Bank sync & Apple Card

What does connecting a bank do?

Bank sync is optional. You sign in to your bank inside Plaid’s screen, and TapWizz then checks your purchases against the best card in your wallet. The connection is read-only: TapWizz can’t move money or make payments. Only credit card accounts are used; checking and savings stay hidden. We never see your bank login or store card numbers.

What does TapWizz get from my bank?

For the credit card accounts you connect: purchase amount, merchant, date and category. Plaid gives us an access token for the link, which we encrypt before storing.

My bank says “reconnect”. What do I do?

Banks sometimes ask you to sign in again. Open the bank sync screen in the app and tap Reconnect on that bank, then sign in through Plaid. Purchases resume once the link is fixed.

How do I disconnect a bank?

Open the bank sync screen and tap Disconnect on that bank. We tell Plaid to remove the link and delete the accounts and transactions we got from it within 24 hours.

Can I connect Apple Card?

If you see Use Apple Wallet (Apple Card), TapWizz can read Apple Card transactions on your iPhone through Apple’s FinanceKit. It needs iOS 17.4 or later. You choose to allow it in Apple’s permission sheet.

How do I stop sharing Apple Card data?

On your iPhone, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Wallet and turn off access for TapWizz.

Recommendations & rewards

How does TapWizz pick the best card?

For a store or category, TapWizz ranks the cards in your wallet by the value you earn on that purchase: the card’s earn rate for the category times what its points are worth, taking rotating categories and caps into account. The pick is only as good as the cards and terms we have, so check your issuer for anything that matters.

A pick looks wrong. What should I do?

Tap “Not right” on the pick. We review every report, fix the cause, and log real mistakes publicly.

What are perks and credits?

Many cards come with statement credits, like a monthly dining credit. TapWizz lists the credits for your cards and when they reset, so you can use them before they expire.

How do goals work?

Set a points goal, such as a trip, and TapWizz shows how far along you are and what is left.

What is my spending profile?

Your monthly spend by category, entered during setup and editable in Settings. TapWizz uses it to estimate what each card is worth to you. If you connected a bank and see “Updated from your purchases” under your spending, TapWizz raised it from your recent purchases; categories you edited by hand are never changed.

Ask Wizz

What is Ask Wizz?

Ask Wizz is the assistant inside TapWizz. Ask which card to use somewhere, what credits you have left, or whether a card is worth its fee, and it answers from your own wallet.

Is there a limit on questions?

Free accounts get a daily number of Ask Wizz questions. If you see a counter like “N of 20 left today”, that is your remaining quota; it resets on a rolling 24-hour basis.

Are my Ask Wizz chats stored?

Yes, in your account so you can see them. They are deleted when you delete your account.

TapWizz Plus & billing

What is free?

Everything computed from the cards and spending you enter is free: best-card picks, card values, keep-or-cancel advice, perks, goals and optimize.

What does Plus pay for?

Plus only passes through real per-user costs: bank data through Plaid (linking, purchase checking and the measured value from your transactions), automatic points balances when that ships, and cloud AI answers beyond the free daily quota, plus a small platform fee.

How do I cancel Plus?

Plus is billed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → TapWizz and cancel. Deleting your TapWizz account does not cancel an App Store subscription, so cancel it there too.

Can I get a refund?

App Store purchases are refunded by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Privacy & security

Do you sell my data?

No. We don’t sell or share your data for targeted advertising.

Can I download my data?

Yes. You can download your data in the app (Settings). If you don’t see the option yet, email us and we’ll send it.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Delete account. The screen lists what gets deleted, and you type DELETE to confirm. We remove your bank links at Plaid and delete your wallet, goals, spending profile, feedback, synced transactions and Ask Wizz history. Backups are overwritten within 30 days.

How do I disconnect my bank without deleting my account?

Open the bank sync screen and tap Disconnect. The bank data we got from it is deleted within 24 hours.

Claude & ChatGPT

Can I use TapWizz in Claude or ChatGPT?

TapWizz has a connector for Claude and ChatGPT that answers from your own wallet: best card for a purchase, wallet summary, credits left, goal progress and keep-or-cancel. It is read-only and can’t change anything in your account. You can disconnect it at any time.

Browser extension

Is there a browser extension?

Not yet. A TapWizz browser extension is planned but not available. We will announce it to the waitlist.

Troubleshooting

How do I get the latest fixes?

Many fixes arrive as in-app updates. The app downloads them when it opens and applies them on the next launch, so fully close TapWizz (swipe it away in the app switcher) and open it again, twice. If you see an “Update ready” banner, tap it to restart now. Bigger updates come as a new TestFlight build: open TestFlight and tap Update.

My purchases aren’t syncing.

Pull down on Purchases to refresh. If a bank shows Reconnect, tap it and sign in again. New purchases can take a while to reach your bank’s feed, especially pending ones.

A transaction is missing.

Only connected credit card accounts are synced; checking and savings accounts are not. Pending purchases may appear only after they post. If a posted purchase is still missing after a day, report it with the date and amount.

I’m not getting notifications.

On your iPhone, open Settings → Notifications → TapWizz and turn on Allow Notifications. Store alerts also need location access for TapWizz in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.

Report a bug in the app

The fastest way to show us a problem is from the app itself.

  1. Go to the screen where it went wrong.
  2. Shake your iPhone. A feedback sheet opens with a screenshot of that screen attached.
  3. Tell us what you expected and what happened, then send.

Shake to report is on for beta testers and may not be in every build. If nothing happens, email us a screenshot. A wrong card pick? Tap “Not right” on it instead. More on reporting bugs
